The Look for Less: Michael Kors Zippered Pumps

by Sarah 4. June 2009 03:51

These Michael Kors pumps remind me of these Sergio Rossi's - sure, the color is different, as is the price point, but both of the shoes have the same zippered design thing going on. The Rossi's are way out of my price range, and the Kors', at $130, are much lower. However, if $130 is still a bit too much to swallow, peep these Aldo creations. They retail for $90, and they've straight up copied the MK's. However, the Kors' version uses stretch nylon, while the Aldo's are all leather, meaning that the Kors' are probably way more comfortable and stay on your feet better than the Aldo's do. Both shoes have a sassy rocker chic vibe to them - which ones will you choose?

My advice? Splurge on the MK's. For only $40 more, you can get the real thing (and continue to dream about saving enough in your piggybank for the Sergio version).

The Look for Less: Dior Flower Ring

by Sarah 1. June 2009 07:51

Well, we know we can always count on Fred Flare to give us cute, quirky jewels - so when this one popped up online, I couldn't help but rejoice. It's a copy of a Dior ring I've been majorly crushing on! It's not an exact replica, but it'll certainly do. Plus, it's only $24, which ain't too shabby!

The Look for Less: Chanel Resort Caged Booties

by Sarah 4. May 2009 05:35

Oooh baby. I adore these black and white Chanel caged booties. They were part of the resort 2009 collection, but are no longer available online. Most Chanel shoes retail for above $800, so we can assume that these babies are pretty much out of our price range. Thankfully, like most good Chanel shoes, they've been knocked off. Many a pretentious fashionista would "tut tut" at this, but I think it's the only way the industry can function. Not everyone can afford to buy designer, at least not right away.

Jeffrey Campbell, who's a shoe maven more than capable of his own designs, priced his take on the Chanel bootie at around $200. They're now on sale for $149. This is still a bit pricey. Go Jane, ever the cheap retailer, has done a version that incorporates both Campbell's look and the original Chanel. Their version retails for $40. Now THAT's a price I can swallow! Their look doesn't have the thick heel of the Jeffrey Campbell's, and it's even skinnier than the original Chanel, which means these shoes might be quite treacherous to walk in.

But hey, beauty is pain, right?

Snag your pair here.

Stylish Steals: Alexander Wang on a budget

by Sarah 30. April 2009 05:21

I have a major crush on all things Alexander Wang. The fashion wunderkind has produced some of the softest tee shirts out there, and paired those with leather jackets that are absolutely to die for. He's created sweaters with mesh cutouts and fringed leather booties that are sure to have heads turning. His latest effort? This sexy mesh dress. I die for this dress. I really do. I'm sure if Rachel Zoe was sitting here with me, she'd die for it too.

The sad thing? Because it's Wang, it's pricey.

Happily, the fashion police don't come around here, and we've got a fantastic Bebe lookalike for only $59. A steal! Get yours here. If you can't tell the difference, we won't tell your secret.

Jump into Jumpsuits!

by Sarah 30. April 2009 05:02

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm really into the jumpsuit trend. They're a bit more formal than rompers, which cover about 1/8 of your skin and generally pinch and pull in weird places. They can be dressed up or dressed down (see below). They're great with heels, and stunning with sandals. Best of all, they'll keep you cool during the summer, which is something we all need. I can't believe I'm complimenting Audrina Patridge, but I really love the way she looks in this beige strapless jumpsuit. You can grab an inexpensive version here. Katie Holmes also recently donned a gorgeous black jumpsuit for a night out. Granted, she's six million feet tall and pin thin, but hey, black is both slimming and elongating! Steal her look with this piece.

From florals to the bold and the bright, from basic black to Liberty print, you're sure to find a jumpsuit that fits your style.

Happy hunting!

High vs. Low: Ruffled Platforms

by Christine 17. March 2009 15:17

Aren't the ruffled pumps from Loeffler Randall gorgeous? Well, now you can own a similar looking pair from Steve Madden for only $90! I love the tiered ruffles down the front of the shoe, and although they may seem ultra dressy, I feel they can be worn in a couple different ways. If you are wanted to look sophisticated and wear them to work, I think a slim pencil skirt and tucked in blouse would work perfectly. And, if you were feeling a little more girly and romantic, a really pretty flowy sundress in pretty pastels would be just the ticket. What do you think of the ruffles? Would you wear shoes like this or are they too frilly for you? Do tell, I would love to know!

High vs Low: Complete Outfit

by Christine 11. March 2009 04:26

Today, I saw that some cute Theory items were on sale at Bloomingdales and decided it would be fun to create an outfit out of some of the pieces. But, sadly for me, the sale prices are still not quite in my spending range, so I created another outfit that is similar in style but about half the price! There are of course some differences, but that is what is fun about fashion and creating looks. You can take similar looking items, play around with them and come up with different versions of the same look! I could see myself definitely wearing both of these ensembles to work on a sunny, spring day!

High vs Low: Wedges

by Christine 26. February 2009 06:38

We are about two days away from March 1st, which means spring is literally just around the corner! So, in lieu of that, I thought it appropriate to show off these lovely wedge peep-toes, one high, one low in price. Although they have differences about them, the general style is the same, which I think would look super cute with either bare legs or black tights. Click here and here to find out which one is high and which one is low!

High vs Low: Jean cutoff shorts

by Christine 24. February 2009 06:41

So, recently I posted about jean shorts and black tights, which I love, but how I couldn't bring myself to spend $50 on a pair of cutoffs. Well, I still feel that way, only this time, I thought it would be fun to play the high vs low game and see if you can tell which pair is more expensive. The funny thing is, both pairs of shorts are "renewed" levis but one is almost double the amount of the other one! Amazing. Anyway, take your best shot!

High vs Low: Oxford Peep-toes

by Christine 20. February 2009 05:31

2.

Hello, and happy Friday! It is pretty sunny today here in NYC, but the wind is out of control! That is okay with me as long as it is bright and light out! So, I came across these two pairs of look-a-like shoes and want to see if you can tell which one is high and which one is low...I love them both and would be extremely happy if either one was in my closet! Which one is your favorite? What do you think about peep-toe pumps in general? Would you rather have your toes covered or expose your toenails covered in pretty polish?

To find out which one is which, click on the numbers. Happy shopping!
