Is silver the new gold?

by Sarah 26. January 2010 06:58

From Lady Gaga's ostentatious mirrored outfits on stage to the silver sparkles we've seen parading down the runway, it seems that this might just be the year of silver. If you're a fan of mixed metals, feel free to sprinkle in some gold with your silver - but if you're a lady who prefers gold, consider stocking up on some inexpensive silver pieces to help you stay on trend. We scoured the Forever21 website (our favorite resource for cheap baubles - as we type this, we're wearing two F21 silver rings) and dug up some must-have silver pieces for the Spring season. Clickity click!

Silver Dragonfly Jewelry

by Jewelry 6. October 2009 01:10

My favorite website on the Internet for buying Sterling silver jewelry is zulumoon.com, they have such a huge selection and the prices are always great. So this week when I needed to buy a gift for my friends birthday I went to Zulu Moon. My Friend loves the dragonfly. She has her mystical new age reasons which I should understand but I don't.

Anyway, like I said, she loves the Dragonfly and dragonfly jewelry so I went to zulumoon and found this wonderful amber dragonfly pendant for her for only $44.

Three Color Amber Dragonfly Pendant

About the Dragonfly Pendant

AS you can tell by the picture, the dragonfly is sterling silver and has three different colors of Baltic amber. The body and the wings are sterling silver and the wings and the head are made of amber. This is the perfect gift for my friend the dragonfly lover because her name is... You guessed it, AMBER.

Payless Designer Collaborations for Fall

by Sarah 21. August 2009 04:51

You can tell we've got shoes and fall on the brain here at the Budget Fashion Report. It's just so hot outside, we can't wait to cozy up and wear some chunky knits with fall boots. Surprisingly, we're looking to Payless for some our fall purchases, thanks to their designer collaborations. The retailer has teamed up with a variety of designers, including Lela Rose, Alice & Olivia and Christian Siriano to bring high price looks at a low price point.

We've got our eyes on the Alice & Olivia Madison Biker Boot ($49.99) - it's right on trend for autumn's motorcycle chic looks.

These electric blue suede booties ($34.99) from the Lela Rose line are adorable with their tied detail - very Blair Waldorf, if we do say so ourselves. We're picturing them with everything from light colored skinnies to a mini skirt to black leggings - they're the perfect pop of color for Fall, and they'll totally work with tights.

We're OBSESSED with these snakeskin booties ($49.99) from the Christian Siriano line - they're FIERCE.

Trend Alert: Black Out Shoes

by Sarah 20. August 2009 05:00
It may be a blistering 90 degrees out today here in the Northeast, but autumn's just around the corner, so it's time to start stocking up on fall trends. One of the biggest trends for this upcoming season is the look of biker chic. Cheap and chic retailer Forever21 has, per usual, jumped right on trend, stocking their shoe section with a myriad of funky black shoes that are right on trend. We're especially loving the lace up boots below. All shoes are under $40 and available from Forever21's website. Jump on trend, and be the first to head for the blackout.

Inspired By: Giuseppe Zanotti Zipper Boots

by Sarah 17. August 2009 04:53

Aren't these Giuseppe Zanotti zippered boots just to die for? Seriously, they're so Marianne Faithful we could almost squeal with boho-biker infused happiness. The tan leather is beautiful, but the zippered detailing is a neutral take on the biker trend that's been sweeping both the runways and the streets. If at $1325 these babies are a bit out of your budget (we know they're as much as our monthly rent check), check out Aldo's take on the trend. We're in love with the foldover, whether it be knee-high like the Zanottis, or calf length like the Aldos. The Aldo pair is made of black suede, but it's got the same feel as the Zanotti pair, for a fraction of the price. Scoop these up for $140

The Look for Less: Givenchy Nightingale

by Sarah 10. August 2009 02:14
I don't know about you, but I'd die to adorn my arms with a Givenchy Nightingale bag. The lush leather, the gorgeous double strap, the oversized shape. This bag is perfection. I've got a huge crush on Ashley Tisdale's peach version, but I'm also loving the basic black one pictured below. Sadly for us regular folk, this bag tops out at almost $2,000. Just a bit pricey for the working gal. Lucky for us, FabSugar found a great look for less! This BCBG bag is a close second, and at only $138, it's a fraction of the cost of the real thing. Ok, so I'm not loving the cross-bag zipper detail, but the shape and the look of this tote are eerily similar to the Givenchy.

The Look for Less: Hayden's Peep-Toe Booties

by Sarah 13. July 2009 06:09

I'm not a huge fan of Hayden Panettiere, but I will say one thing - the girl knows how to work her body type. Panettiere is short and stumpy, but not at all chubby. This means she sports heels most of the time, especially when it comes to premieres. While doing promotion for her new movie, "I Love You, Beth Cooper", Hayden stopped by MTV to talk with Alexa Chung. She sported a bell-sleeve mini shift dress from Elizabeth and James, and some FIERCE Giuseppe Zanotti booties. Chances are, we can't afford the GZ's, but happily, Charlotte Russe has a great look for less for under $30!

Get the Look: Anne Hathaway's Chanel Bag

by Sarah 10. July 2009 01:44

Nevermind that Anne Hathaway looks ridiculous in her multi-colored wig in the photo below - let's focus on that GORGEOUS quilted blue Chanel bag. Is that to die for or what? Since we definitely can't afford Anne's Chanel, People magazine came up with some affordable and colorful options.

1. Marc Jacobs . I'm actually not a huge fan of this bag - the color is nice, but the bag itself is boring.

2.  Bebe. This "feather satchel" isn't fabulous, but the color is exactly right!

3. La Regale. This one is quilted, and has a chain stap, a la Chanel. Paired with the right outfit, it's a great statement piece.

The Look for Less: Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth and James Knuckle Ring

by Sarah 26. June 2009 05:18

I have a giant crush on this Elizabeth and James silver knuckle ring. Crafted by jeweler Robert Lee Morris for the Olsen Twins' E&J line, this baby deserves a spot on my dresser, stat. Sadly, the hefty price tag of $195 is just too much for me to handle. $200 for a silver ring? Hell to the N-O!

Good thing FabSugar found a great look for less! They've located this Trend To Go knuckle ring, which is almost identical to the E&J version. Sure, it's a bit shinier, but what's wrong with shiny? It's got the same basic shape, and is a great substitute atonly $53.95.  I'll be picking one of these babies up, stat!
