The Look for Less: Nicole Richie's Maxi Dress

by Sarah 26. February 2010 04:35

We don't know about you, but we adore Nicole Richie. The starlet has transformed herself from a trashy reality TV star to a glamorous mother of two with great values and an even greater closet. Nicole is known for her bohemian look, which, despite being copied by many a celebrity, is individual to her and her only. Richie always knows how to make an outfit her own. Case in point, the look above. Her long blue silk maxi dress is pretty, but not particularly one of a kind. However, Nicole made the look her own by winterizing it with a pair of black ankle boots and a black leather jacket from her own Winter Kate collection. Get her look for less below!

C&C California Navy Blue Maxi Dress, $128

Forever21 Faux Leather Jacket, $32.80

Forever21 Black Crinkled Ankle Boots, $27.80

The Look for Less: Chanel Spring 2010 Clogs

by Sarah 23. February 2010 06:38

We don't know about you, but aside from Karl Lagerfeld's Spring 2010 collection for Chanel, the last time we thought about clogs was during our time abroad in Amsterdam our junior year of college. Before that, it was when we saw the Dutch section of the "It's a Small World After All" ride at Disney World. In short, we don't exactly think of clogs as fashionable - but leave it to Karl to make them so. Lagerfeld sent these golden studded babies down his farm-themed runway for Spring 2010, and of course, there's already a look for less. We know, we know - clogs just aren't au courant - but, ma souers, that's where you're wrong. Once Karl says they're in, they're in. Hence, clogs are going to be all the rage for Spring. Get a great look for less with Jeffrey Campbell's Charli Platform Clog. JC's clogs retail for $178 at Free People, which we're betting is a fraction of the price of the real thing.

Fall 2010 Runway Trends

by Sarah 18. February 2010 06:15

We've spent the past week at the Bryant Park tents in New York watching the Fall 2010 collections stomp down the runways, and already, the trends for next fall/winter are becoming clear. We know, you're looking forward to spring and summer, what do you care about winter? We understand that - but we still feel it's important for every good fashionista to be educated on the trends that are to come. Just like country florals, denim and army detailing will be big for Spring, we've compiled the trends that will be huge come fall.

Like it or not, velvet is going to be huge come fall. It popped up on nearly every single runway in rich shades of burnt oranges, purples, reds and pinks. It made it's way into full length gowns and short party dresses, and showed up everywhere from Alexander Wang to Thuy, Rebecca Taylor to Tibi. Lace and fur were also everywhere, from Dennis Basso to Michael Kors, Thuy to Oscar de la Renta.

Start stocking up now! Our picks, below:

F21 Slinky Lace Top Dress, $19.80

Arden B Lace Insert Top, $19.99

Forever21 Tiered Lace Scallop Skirt, $19.80

American Apparel Stretch Velvet Long Sleeve Dress, $45

Express Faux Fur Scarf, $29.99

Alloy Faux Fur Vest, $29.99

French Connection Big Foot Coat, $100

American Apparel Stretch Velvet Legging, $40

How to Wear: Patterned Tights

by Sarah 15. February 2010 04:56

We've really fallen hard for patterned tights - they now come in every color of the rainbow, but as we attempt to transition our closet to spring, we can't help but be drawn to the blues, lilacs and blacks. Our favorites come from trendy budget retailers Forever21 and Urban Outfitters, who offer a wide variety of florals, laces and fashionable fishnets amongst other options. Check out a few of our favorites below.

The Look for Less: Olivia Palermo Plays with Patterns

by Sarah 15. February 2010 04:40

Confession: we love Olivia Palermo. The socialite might not be the friendliest gal around, but she's got personal style up the wazoo. Case in point: her look at the Ports 1961 fashion show at New York fashion week last week. We can't quite figure out how Palermo manages to keep such a healthy head of hair when her legs are like toothpicks - but we have to admit that she knows how to dress.

We love the way she's paired an eclectic mix of patterns and textures in her outfit below - the plaid shirt with the wool shorts, fuzzy sweater, and black tights...it's a match made in fashionista heaven! Get a lower priced version of Olivia's outfit with the pieces below!

Cycle Wool Tweed Shorts, $39

Lucky Brand Tyler Plaid Shirt, $69.50

DKNY Marled Cardigan, $44.99

Jessica Simpson Nolita Black Heel, $69

Spanx Black Tight End Tights, $26

Get the Look: Herve Leger Fall 2010

by Sarah 15. February 2010 04:24

If you've never seen an Herve Leger bandage dress, chances are you've been living under a rock. The famously slimming and curve-hugging knit pieces have been worn by pretty much every starlet alive, so it's no surprise that a bevy of pretty young things flocked to New York City's Bryant Park to see Max Azria present his Herve Leger line yesterday afternoon. Pictured below is Gossip Girl star Jessica Szohr, donning a black and blue Leger dress. Love the look? Leger dresses retail for over $1000, but you can find looks for less! Below, some of our favorite attempts at the famous bandage dress.

French Connection Colour Block Bandage Dress, $159.76

Arden B Ombre Bandage Dress, $22.50

BCBGeneration Forest Green Bandage Dress, $74.39

Juicy Couture Stretch Bandage Dress, $200
