Mix & Match These Fashion Basics

by brooks 2. February 2010 11:09

Can't afford to update your entire wardrobe?  Not only can you mix and match the following pieces, you can add them to the wardrobe you already have to give you an updated sense of style.  Try rolling up a pair of distressed jeans and pairing it with the button down and pumps.  Try the slouchy pants (or jeans) with a tank and the blazer and pumps.  Try the trench coat over jeans and pair it with pumps.  Try the blazer over a dress you already own and some sexy heels.  Throw in your own accessories and sense of style.  You'll see that the possibilities are endless!

  • Trench Coat (Pictured Below from New York and Company $29.98)
  • Boyfriend Style Button Down (Pictured Below from GAP $49.50)

The Look for Less: See by Chloe Floral Blouse

by Sarah 17. March 2009 08:05

I adore this funky floral blouse from See by Chloe. It's bright enough to have a bit of a vintage feel, but it's totally Spring and totally now with it's flouncy florals. Unfortunately, it's $360. A bit too much for a shirt, methinks. However, Old Navy has a great alternative! It's not exactly the same, but it's a great way to get the same feel for those on a budget.

Styling Session: Get the Look!

by Christine 4. March 2009 07:27

Last weekend, my friend AM and I had some fun playing around in my closet. She told me she was tired of her current look and wanted something a bit more urban downtown looking...something she would never wear normally. Well, I went with that idea and ran with it! I pulled out some of my favorite go-to pieces and pulled together this fun outfit for her, which she then promptly wore out that night. :) Since the items in my wardrobe aren't available online anymore, I dug around and found some pieces that you can purchase to get a similar look to AM's. And as far as the fun gold jewelry and black tights, anything similar that you have in your closet should work, so have fun and happy shopping!

Get the look: Rihanna

by Christine 25. February 2009 05:16

I am loving this look that Rihanna has going on here. It is so different from her normal style but still very sexy and fun. The pretty blue shirt coupled with the creamy white skirt (grey in the case of the Get The Look items) is fresh for spring and the rich color of her shoes complements the overall outfit perfectly. Nicely done Ri Ri!

Look chic for under $50!

by Christine 20. February 2009 06:06
How fun is it to find great items at such low prices (I heart sales) and still look like a million bucks?! This entire outfit comes to $49 and in my opinion looks quite classy! The top is from Old Navy, the skirt if from J.Crew, the scarf and bracelet are from Forever 21 and the shoes are from GoJane.com. I love the contrasting colors of brown, magenta and yellow together. I feel like it is such an unexpected combination, yet so fresh and springy. You could also throw a light jacket or cardigan over the camisole and wear this during the early months of fall. Enjoy, and happy weekend friends!

Now and Then: autumn vs. spring

by Christine 29. January 2009 07:33

So, earlier this week on my blog, I was lusting over a pair of vintage Ferragamo flats from Santoki Vintage. So much so, that I decided to create two outfits based around them that I could picture myself wearing...one for the fall and one for the spring. I find that those two seasons tend to be less brutal temperature-wise, and when wearing a summery skirt and top with flats, you can get away with either lightly layering with tights and a cardi or throwing on a hat and some bright accessories to give the outfit a more summery feel. So, with that said, here's what I came up with!

Stylish Steals: Three outfits at three different prices!

by Christine 12. January 2009 05:21

After scouring the web for just the right bargains, I managed to pull together three different looks, for three different occasions, at three different prices: $100, $75 and $50. Each piece is something you can wear again and again and again!

I always like to splurge a bit for work attire—you know the old saying, "dress to impress!" So, this first outfit is the most expensive, coming in just under $100. The pieces were found mostly at Banana Republic where they are having a super sale on their items. Definitely worth checking out and you'll look like a million bucks at a much lower price!

  Shown clockwise:

Silk cowlneck top, $69.00 $34.99 (on sale!)

Taffeta tulip skirt, $110.00 $29.99 (on sale!)

Super opaque ontrol top tights, $12.50 or 2 for $20

Delicious Minmin Pumps, $14.99

Snake Chain Hoop Earrings, $3.80

Isn't this two-toned dress so cute? I love how it gives off a slightly flirty vibe, but still remains looking relaxed and won't make you look like you are trying to hard. And, let's be honest, you want to look well put together but not spend a fortune, so, I searched for the main piece, the dress, at the cute, online shop, Alloy.com. This cute outfit tallied up to be under $75! Pair a few simple accessories with this fun frock and you'll be ready for a night out with that special someone!

Women's Opaque Tights, $6.50 $4.99 (on sale!)

Last but not least, here is a great outfit for the weekend. I find it important to look put together in a relaxed yet stylish way when headed to a weekend brunch with friends or catching a movie with the boyfriend. This casual cute outfit rings in at $50! These items happen to be from my very favorite go-to store, the amazing Forever 21. I always seem to find such great things there and the best part is, you can try out a fun, new trend without having to drop a lot of money doing so. And, as my mother keeps reminding me, it is the "year of the cardigan" and I have to agree with her. They are everywhere, and I own a ton of them. They are great to just toss on over any outfit for a casual yet stylish touch. P.S. Don't you just love that Beattles bag? I think I want to order it right now!
