The Look for Less: Chanel Spring 2010 Clogs

by Sarah 23. February 2010 06:38

We don't know about you, but aside from Karl Lagerfeld's Spring 2010 collection for Chanel, the last time we thought about clogs was during our time abroad in Amsterdam our junior year of college. Before that, it was when we saw the Dutch section of the "It's a Small World After All" ride at Disney World. In short, we don't exactly think of clogs as fashionable - but leave it to Karl to make them so. Lagerfeld sent these golden studded babies down his farm-themed runway for Spring 2010, and of course, there's already a look for less. We know, we know - clogs just aren't au courant - but, ma souers, that's where you're wrong. Once Karl says they're in, they're in. Hence, clogs are going to be all the rage for Spring. Get a great look for less with Jeffrey Campbell's Charli Platform Clog. JC's clogs retail for $178 at Free People, which we're betting is a fraction of the price of the real thing.

The Look for Less: Chanel Resort Caged Booties

by Sarah 4. May 2009 05:35

Oooh baby. I adore these black and white Chanel caged booties. They were part of the resort 2009 collection, but are no longer available online. Most Chanel shoes retail for above $800, so we can assume that these babies are pretty much out of our price range. Thankfully, like most good Chanel shoes, they've been knocked off. Many a pretentious fashionista would "tut tut" at this, but I think it's the only way the industry can function. Not everyone can afford to buy designer, at least not right away.

Jeffrey Campbell, who's a shoe maven more than capable of his own designs, priced his take on the Chanel bootie at around $200. They're now on sale for $149. This is still a bit pricey. Go Jane, ever the cheap retailer, has done a version that incorporates both Campbell's look and the original Chanel. Their version retails for $40. Now THAT's a price I can swallow! Their look doesn't have the thick heel of the Jeffrey Campbell's, and it's even skinnier than the original Chanel, which means these shoes might be quite treacherous to walk in.

But hey, beauty is pain, right?

Snag your pair here.

Splurge vs. Steal: Chanel Quilted Handbag

by Sarah 17. February 2009 06:21

If there's one thing every fashionista around the world covets, it's a Chanel bag. The epitome of class, Chanel exudes a sense of propriety and sass that every woman wants to possess. The problem? Chanel bags are pretttty pricey. As in, way out of any financially discerning girl's price range. The Forever21 bag below isn't a good knockoff - it doesn't look exactly like the Chanel bag. There are no fake C's to be seen. In this case, however, it's a good thing. No one could replicate Chanel, so why even try? This bag mimics the Chanel quilted bag, the shape, and the chain, but doesn't try to attempt to be something it could never be.

Basically, it's Chanel replica you might actually wear. And at $20.80, it's a real steal, no?

Look for Less: Chanel Studded Pumps

by Sarah 2. February 2009 08:41

These gorgeous Chanel Studded Pumps are from the label's Pre-Fall 2009 collection, and were recently spotted on actress Kiera Knightley at the Chanel runway show in Paris. Studs are still (happily!) all the rage, and were all over the Pre-Fall collections. Fashion Week Fall 2009 is about to hit the streets of NYC, and I'm guessing we'll still be seeing studs on the runways come February. If you're crushing on these Chanel pumps as hard as I am, you'll be glad to see I've found us a less pricey alternative.

Here's Keira in the real thing:

Check out these Steve Maddens for a great look for less! They're still $150, but when compared to the Chanel originals, which probably skyrocket to prices equal to a month's rent in New York City, they basically cost nothing. The studs are a bit further apart, which is how Madden always gets away with their knockoffs (altering just the smallest details), but they're still a pretty close match!
