Lately I have been dreaming of swimsuits. And, seeing that I am currently in California, it must be all the sand, sun and surf surrounding me right now. I poked around the web a bit to see if I could find some cute, affordable options and kept seeing a reoccuring theme of retro-inspired halter top suits with fun polka dots or hearts. I picked a few that were my favorite (each under $40!) and wanted to share them with you, dear readers. What do you think of this style of suit? Do you prefer one pieces or two? I would love to know!  

 
Today I ducked into H&M to see if they had anything new and cute. Well, of course they did, which became way too tempting for me, especially when I spotted a cute blue and white striped bikini. Since I am headed to California on Thursday and don't currently like any of my swimsuits, I decided that it was worth it to try it on. Amazingly enough it fit perfectly, which I feel never happens with bathing suits, so I took it as a sign and purchased it immediately. Incredibly excited about my find, I decided I wanted to create an outfit around it that I might wear on the beach when I get to San Diego later this week. So I went with a laidback vibe with comfy basics and a bright red bag! What do you think of striped swimsuits? What about stripes in general? I would have to say that I am generally obsessed with them! 

(Sadly I was not able to find my suit online, but luckily Top Shop had a similar one!)

At first glance, this outfit may look very simple, which it is, but the details is what makes it special. I was really taken with how she doesn't quite tuck her jeans into the boots, but rather lets them rest right on the top of the scrunched part. Genius! It is a new way to wear the "boyfriend jeans" and is still cute and with it. I love that she doesn't look like she is trying to hard, but sort of threw it together and looks fabulous and chic regardless, even with rips in her jeans. Nice work. :)

If only jeans looked good on me...this is a trend I would be ALL OVER. I LOVE this look. I've always favored oversized pieces - something about the way a piece of clothing drapes when it's just a bit big is so sexy. Boyfriend Jeans are all the rage lately-- all the celebs have been spotted in this Current Elliot version, which retails for $229 at Madison LA. If that's out of your price range (which it probably is), try the American Eagle version. They're just as nice - trust me, I've seen them in person, and they're great looking! They retail for only $49.50, which is just a bit better than $229, no? Check them out here! 

I have been seeing a serious trend with black sheer tights and short, light denim cutoffs. I have been seriously coveting a pair similar to the ones she is wearing in the photo and think I might have found some affordable pairs. Below are some look-a-like shorts at an affordable price!
